JESSIE H. BUTLER
This is Jessie H. Butler. He was born Feb 10,1823 in Scott Co., Kentucky and learned the trade of a tailer. He married Eunice Oder Turpin the 20 Nov 1844 in Franklin Co. Kentucky. They have six children: John Thomas, Isabella, Jesse William, Daniel, Raymond, and Ida.
In 1844 Jessie voted in his first election for James K. Polk and helped with that campaign. They lived in Kentucky until 1851 when they moved to Bloomington Illinois. Then in Sept 1851 their son Jesse William was born, but died a year later in Fairmont Illinois. Jessie joined the Police force and later became chief. His fellow officers gave him the title of General. Butler was part of the city officers when John Reed was Mayor of Bloomington and became Vice-President of the Old People's Pinic Assocation and still held that seat at the time of his death Feb 23,1905.
